Hallway Revived
"Life is too complicated not to be orderly."
- Martha Stewart
Before
This hallway was directly off the garage door and was quickly becoming cluttered with jackets, hats, and backpacks. The client wanted a functional solution for the family to hang their belongings once they walked in the door.

The first step after getting the design mapped out was to pick the paint color. I used Sherwin Williams Retreat because the client wanted earthy tones to break up the warm color and light in the hallway.

Through collaboration with another interior designer, we decided to go with a board and batten wall for the function of a coat rack and design aesthetics. It started in the hallway and carried through to the laundry room at the end. After the walls were painted, the boards went up.

Then the boards were painted the same color as the walls underneath for a cohesive look.
After
The black double hooks were then used to maximize effectiveness. This is making it possible to hang both a backpack and jacket on the same hook if needed.
